1cup All Purpose Flour (maida)
3/4 cup Powdered Sugar
1 cup Melted Butter
1 cup Fresh Curd
1/2 cup Milk
4 tbsp Cocoa powder
1 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
A pinch of Salt
Collect all the required ingredients. Firstly, sieve the plain flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a deep bowl, mix well and keep aside.
In a separate bowl take melted butter, curd and powdered sugar and make a mixture by whisking or beating in one direction till the mixture turns smooth and creamy.
Further add vanilla extract and give a light mix.
Add the prepared sieved plain flour-cocoa mixture and approx.Mix in one direction with light hands.
Additionally,add milk and mix gently for 2-3 minutes to attain smooth dropping consistency ( remove all the lumps from the batter). Whisk the batter in one direction only.
Cake batter is ready and make sure the batter is of smooth dropping consistency.
Now place an appam stand on gas. Do not on the flame. Pour a spoonful of cake batter into the indents/holes
Now on the flame put your appam pan on gas on high flame for 10 seconds and then cook it on slow flame 30 seconds. Cover with a lid and it takes only half minute to get done.
After 30 seconds,Open the lid, and check the cake.Off the flame and remove the appam pan from flame.Check the cake by changing the side of cake (Handle it carefully otherwise it may break).Again Put appam pan on gas flame and bake it for 15-20 seconds. Cover with a lid.(It may take half minute also).Open the lid, and test the Cake with a toothpick or knife. If the toothpick comes out clean, then your Cake is completely baked.Let it cool down for a while and then take it out from the pan and transfer it into a plate.Check if it is perfectly baked or not.else bake for 10 more seconds.Appam pan made Chocolate Cake is ready.Serve chocolate cake as a sweet dessert.
This chocolate cake tastes good warm also, but you cannot slice them and you can just have them directly from the pan.
Do not over mix the batter.
Furthermore, use oil instead of butter if you are preserving the cake and eating later. as butter hardens once refrigerated whereas oil doesn’t and keeps cake more moist.
Additionally, stick to the proportion for a perfect cake.
