Black Forest Cake. A chocolate sponge cake soaked with simple syrup, filled and frosted with light sweetened whipped cream along with some juicy cherries and rich, dark chocolate shavings. Need I say more? This cake would win anyone with just one glance at it, but this recipe is the best one I have ever tried. The sponge cake has the perfect amount of bitterness that is balanced out by the simple syrup. And it is moist and juicy in every bite along with the freshness that the cherries lend to it. You NEED to make this cake right away. Happy Baking! 🙂


For the Chocolate Sponge Cake: (6″ round cake)
*1/2 cup all-purpose flour (maida) (To buy online:
*1/4 cup cocoa powder (To buy online:
*3/4 tsp baking powder (To buy online:

*2 egg whites, (at room temperature)
*75 g powdered sugar (To buy online:

For the Simple Syrup:
*1/3 cup sugar
*1/3 cup water

For the Whipped Cream:
*1 1/4 cup whipping cream (I used Deluxe Non Dairy whipping cream)

    For first time I made cake by flowing your instruction and it came superb. My friend like it so much that Now she want me to bake the same for her daughters birthday. But I dont know measurement because this time I am gonna use 10/2.5 inches tin / 26/6cm tin. Can you please tell me the recipe measurements for this. Thank you

    The first time I made this cake In May 2020 and it came out very well. But when I tried to make this last week and again today following this same recipe, for some reason the cake's texture not coming right..! Why would that happen, does anyone have any ideas why?

    I havw made this cake with this recipe couple of times and it turned out so good but yesterday I doubled all the ingredients to make bigger cake n first try was fine but second n third try was all watery inside. Do u know what could have gone wrong?
