How to Make a Film Strip Milestone Cake

In this cake decorating tuorial, we will be building a 3 tier cake, covered in fondant and decorated with a printed icing sheet. The best cakes to use in these projects are the super dense or firm cakes, like a mud cake, pound cake, or butter based cake. Soft sponge cakes do not wor well in tiered form, or when covered with fondant. However, if you absolutely had to, these are the tips I have for the best result possible in an almost impossible situation 😉 it is always best to discuss these things with your client first and try to offer the earlier alternatives.

In these video tutorials, I normally use Bakels Premixes to save on time.

I use these butter based cakes above because they are sturdy under fondant and stable at room temperature, as are the muds.
