Thank you for the recipe, i normally would mix my wet ingredients first.. E.g whisking the butter/sugar till its white and fluffy, slowly then combining the dry ingredients.
I thought this is the way to always keep a cake soft, is that not the case for this cake, as in not needed?

Gorgeous cake! Your son must have loved it. I’ve made Swiss Meringue Buttercream many times, but the Italian has always put me off because I’m scared about pouring hot sugar syrup into a stand mixer. Any tips to make this less fraught? 😱 Btw, I’d never seen a “dump” cake done in a stand mixer. 💗💗💗that. Your calm demeanor is helping make the pandemic a little more livable. 🙏

Btw do not use spreadable butter for your buttercream, I learned the hard way that it ruins everything as it slides
