With the new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie coming out soon Carly Toffle and I wanted to collaborate together to bring you some awesome magical cakes!
Harry potter is one of my all time favourite books/movies. Its one of those stories you just can’t get enough of. I am sooooo excited to finally make a Harry Potter themed cake!
To make my DIY Monster Book of Monsters Cake (Spider Book as I like to call it), I baked a 9×13 chocolate cake. I then crumb coated the cake with my yummy chocolate buttercream icing recipe. To make the pages I used my vanilla buttercream and the jagged side of a #789 piping tip. Piped on pages to three sides of the cake, then airbrushed them to look old and worn.
I moulded his gums and teeth out of fondant using gumpaste tools, and painted them with watered down food colouring. Placed those onto my cake with gel paste. I piped on a boarder with a number ten piping tip and his “Arms” using a number five piping tip. I made little fondant black eyes with yellow cat eye centers. For his fur I used a grass tip and just covered the entire top of the cake, and the spine of the book. Flattened out some of the fur and piped on my cake title “Monster Book of Monsters” with golden yellow buttercream.

Buttercream Icing Ingredients:
-1 cup butter (room temperature)
-1 tbs vanilla
-4 cups of icing sugar
-1/4 cup water
