HOW TO MAKE YEMA CAKE WITHOUT OVEN! | NO BAKE YEMA CAKE RECIPE | Ep. 4 | Mortar & Pastry

Ingredients: (Half-recipe)
For the cake batter
1 1/4 cake flour
1/2 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar

4 egg yolks
1/4 cup oil
1/2 cup water
1 tsp orange juice

For the meringue (modified):
8 egg whites
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 cup sugar

For the yema sauce:
4 egg yolks
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 can evap
1 can condensed
1/2 pack cream
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tbsp butter

*Half recipe yields 6 cakes
*You can substitute cake flour with all purpose flour (1 cup APF replace 1 tbsp with cornstarch)

    Kakagawa ko lang neto and I'm so glad ito sinundan ko out of all the other yema cakes na nakita kong available sa you tube. This is more light and fluffy at not too sweet. Nakagawa ako ng 8 cakes dun sa 1/2 recipe using small llaneras which is better lalo na kung for business ito. Mas masarap din sya lalo na pag tumatagal at nasa ref. Medjo natatapangan lang ako konti dun sa 1 tsp na orange juice. Maybe next time 1/2 tsp gagamitin ko. BTW, best na lutuin agad ito kc ung last 1/4 sa mixture ko, after steaming it, nag shrink at tumigas ung gitna (maybe because nawala na ung hanging from the egg whites? Lol) Overall, ito na ang aking go-to recipe for a Yema Cake. My son loved it, too! Thanks for sharing the recipe. 😊
