How To Make Isomalt Cup or Shard and Geometric Cake

In this cake decorating tutorial, I demonstrate how to create an isomalt cup / shard decorative piece to go on your cake. Isomalt is like sugar, or rather a sugar substitute. The benefit is that isomalt is more stable and doesn’t turn a caramelised colour after it has been melted. I like to use either Over the Top or Sugar Crafty brand for Isomalt. You can make these months in advance and store them in an air tight container in a dark, cool place away form moisture / humidity. The triangle fondant cut outs were cut using a milti-cutter by sugar crafty.
